Our heart goes out.
We believe that we each receive an abundance of blessings in our lives, so much that we tend to lose sight of them from time to time. So every year we take time to make quilts to send to charity. In November of last year we had the opportunity to send a nice collection of vibrant quilts to Contagious Hope
, a charity that brings much needed supplies to orphanages in Uganda and other parts of Africa.
When the tragedy of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami hit in northern Japan, we knew that more needed to be done to help these displaced families. We decided to work with the folks at Quilters Newsletter
and participate in their Call for Quilts for Japan
campaign. Here is how: for every finished quilt purchased from us in the April 2011, we will donate a quilt to this relief effort! We think that this is an AMAZING
opportunity for our customers to make a single purchase turn into an extraordinary show of hope and love. Although the quilts we send won't be like for like with those purchased (since many of ours are unique), you can be assured that these quilts will be warmlly welcomed by those in need in Japan.
For those folks that live nearby our shop in Belmont, we are also dedicating our "Block-a-thon" Charity Block Party this month to the relief efforts in Japan. On Tuesday April 12th from 1pm – 4pm and Thursday April 14th 5pm – 8pm we will be opening our shop to any that are willing to come by and sew, iron, cut and overall show your love and support for these victims. During these events we will be making blocks that will later be pieced together to make the quilt tops. Fabric, rotary cutters and thread will all be supplied, all you need to bring is your machine. The Tuesday session will have light snacks provided, and the Thursday evening session will have soup available for dinner. Please
to sign-up and let us know you are coming, or call us, so we know how many seats to have available.
We look forward to seeing you, and helping the Tsunami victims however we can!
