UFO Friday - Bonnie and Camille Scrappy Log Cabin In Progress

Posted on November 06, 2015 by Jenn Thurston | 0 comments

It's Friday!  It's rather gloomy and quiet in Belmont today (and warm, did I mention it's 70 degrees on November 6th?!)  I'm picking up where I left off last week with my Bonnie and Camille Scrappy Log Cabin!

Last week all I had were my blocks cut into quarters, this week I'm proud to say that all 49 have been squared up and sashing sewn.  I wanted them sewn on point, so I added a solid 2-1/2"light blue sashing around each block.

I was hoping I would have them sewn in rows, but no such luck.  I'm happy that I made as much progress as I did, I should be able to sew these into rows next Friday!

UFO Friday - Bonnie and Camille Scrappy Log Cabin Blocks

Posted on October 30, 2015 by Jenn Thurston | 0 comments

I find myself excited for Fridays, knowing that I get to spend at least 15 minutes at my sewing machine to work on some UFO's (unfinished objects).  I'm excited to say I finished my Jellybean Boathouse quilt last Friday, so now I get to choose a new UFO!  Get caught up on my UFO mission.

I've decided I would really like to finish my Scrappy B & C Log Cabin Quilt.  While this quilt may not be all that old compared to some of my other UFO's, I'm really looking forward to using it this winter!  I enjoy looking at each block and thinking about the time that someone else spent sewing log cabin blocks that are going to be in my quilt!

This was an Instagram swap, the person who organized it did a fantastic job!  Each person who joined the swap made a 21" x 21" scrappy log cabin block made only out of Bonnie and Camille fabrics, which was then cut into four blocks 10.5" x 10.5".  You kept one quarter from each of the blocks you made and then sent off the rest to be distributed to everyone else.  Once all the blocks were received she did her magic swapping and mailed them back.  I think we ended up with 32 blocks for our quilt!

She was so organized, and generous with her time.  I know it must have taken her forever to receive everyone's blocks, log them, swap them and mail them back!  I sure did have fun, and I really like the look of the quilt.  Can't wait to start making some progress on this one!

UFO Friday - The Boat House Quilt Completed!

Posted on October 23, 2015 by Jenn Thurston | 0 comments

I love Fridays, but not just for the typical reason of the weekend… I love them because I have dedicated at least 15 minutes (and sometimes more) every Friday to work on a UFO (unfinished object).  I'm proud to say dedicating this time has allowed me to check one of my UFO's off the list!

So this is Jellybean by Thimble Blossoms featuring The Boat House by Sweetwater.  I have to say, I really like how this one turned out!

Quilting is up next, I think I have decided to go with anchors because how cute would anchors look on this quilt?!

UFO Friday - The Boat House to be Continued

It's Friday, so you know what that means… UFO Friday.

So here I am, on week three of UFO Friday, and each Friday I have gotten a little closer to finishing this one up!

I'm so close I can see the finish line!  I have half the rows completed and sewn together, one row with the corner stones completed and all the strips cut into blocks.

This pattern goes pretty quick, so I expect (assuming I can squeeze in a more than 15 minutes on next Friday) I will have a finished quilt top!  Don't forget, you can join in on the fun!  Post your photos on Instagram or on our Facebook page, use hashtag #UFOFridays

UFO Friday - The Boat House Jellybean Quilt in Progress

Posted on October 09, 2015 by Jenn Thurston | 2 comments

If you joined me last Friday on the blog, then you know that I have been working on my UFO's.  My current project is Jellybean made with The Boat House fabrics.  I have made great progress, three rows out of seven completed, and all the blocks are ready for their cornerstones!

I feel like setting aside 15 minutes has really helped me focus on getting this UFO completed, or at least I'm off to a good start!  It really is such cute fabric!

UFO Friday - The Boat House Jellybean Quilt

Posted on October 02, 2015 by Jenn Thurston | 0 comments

So today is the day, I'm putting my foot down.  I have so many UFO's (unfinished objects) that need some love and attention.  I am dedicating 15 minutes every Friday (and a little more if I can squeeze it in) to finish up some projects!

Everyone, meet Jellybean.  Jellybean is a lovely assortment from The Boat House fabrics that is beckoning me to wrap it up.  This is a great quilt for beginners (and for people that want a really quick project!).

The fabrics are simply gorgeous, I love how clean and simple the prints are.  The red, white and blue colors make a spectacular summer quilt (or fall in my case because it's taken me so long to finish up!)

So who's with me?!  Are you going to join me in dedicating 15 minutes every Friday to complete some UFO's?  I will update every Friday with my progress, and if I happen to finish I'll share my next UFO.  It's all about staying on track!
