Chalk and Paint Blog Hop

Hi everyone!  Today is my day for the Chalk and Paint Blog Hop!  I was so excited when I was selected by Sew Caroline (Caroline Hulse) for her blog hop!  Her fabrics are so fun and cheery, I knew it would be an easy challenge for me!

All of her fabrics are so pretty, so I made no specifics to which ones I preferred to receive for the challenge.  Opening the the package of fabric was like opening a Birthday gift!  The fabrics were just perfect for me!  I love blue's and green's so these fabrics were perfection.  Here are the fabrics I used for my blog hop goodies.

I was on the fence about what to make, I knew I wanted to make a pillow cover but just couldn't decide on the pattern.  Then after petting all these pretty fabrics for a few days (everyone does that right?!), it hit me.  I sure do love a kaleidoscope pattern, so I decided to use all my blues with a splash of color for the accent.

I love how it turned out with that pop of orange in there!  The blocks measure 3" finished and the pillow cover finishes at 18" x 18".  All those blues makes me miss the ocean and summer something fierce!

I threw in a little random decorative stitching for good measure, I feel like it adds a little something without being too much of a distraction.

The backing is a mix from two of my favorite prints.  I love the writing, CAPS, cursive, print, bold, thin... I love it all, there was not a better choice than to pair these two prints together.

So I had a little bit of scraps remaining, and if you know anything about me I can't let scraps go to waste of just lie around.  That meant it was time to make another something small.  I was pretty sure I had enough for another... wait for it... pillow cover (yes, I do have a problem... is there a anonymous group for pillow cover making?)

I used my favorite fabric, I only had a 5" square remaining because I selfishly used all of it on the back of the other pillow.  I knew I wanted to do something with the words, and this word in specific called out to me.  It would be perfect in my sewing room, living room, game room, bedroom... you get the idea, this pillow will not have trouble finding a spot in my home.

I use invisible zippers in all of my pillow covers for a few reasons.  I find them quick and easy to install, the pillow won't stretch the enclosure, and it gives it such a nice professional finish.

I hope you enjoyed my post as much as I enjoyed working with these Chalk and Paint fabrics!  If you're jumping in just now, make sure to check out yesterdays post at The Simple Life for the cutest little girl skirts you ever did see!  Can't wait to see what The Pattern Revolution posts tomorrow for her Chalk and Paint project!
