UFO Friday - Block of the Month Houses

Posted on May 05, 2017 by Jenn Thurston | 8 comments

Our store offered a block of the month a little while ago, and while I was really good at completing the monthly blocks, I never did anything with them!  I'm not sure why, as they are so cute!

So I decided to go ahead and finish this one up using my UFO Fridays!

It literally took me 15 minutes to get it all pieced together, I'm not sure why I procrastinated so long!  It was so easy going together, I already did most of the work by paper piecing the blocks, so sewing the blocks together was a breeze.

Every block is so unique, I was able to choose a little bit of every color group making the end result such a vibrant look.

This little house is one of my favorites (although it is hard to choose!), I think the midcentury modern look is what gets my attention, nice clean lines and of course those are my favorite.

So here it is, all finished up!

We still have a few kits remaining, once they're gone they're gone... a lot of this fabric has been sold out for months.  The kit comes with the pattern, fabric for the whole top and the border of your choice.

Next up on my UFO list, a Chantilly quilt I started about three years ago.  I had finished the blocks at a retreat I went to recently, and need to finish piecing the top.

It feels so great getting some of these projects wrapped up.  Are you working on any UFO's?

Don't forget, you can join in on the fun!  Post your photos on Instagram or on our Facebook page, use hashtag #UFOFridays

A Graceful Winter

Posted on November 10, 2015 by Jenn Thurston | 0 comments

With the 70 degree weather we've been having, you would never guess it's mid November!  I know the cold will be coming soon enough, but for now I will admire this beautiful Graceful Winter quilt.

A nice design of snowmen, birds, winter flowers and fun embellishment makes this quilt spectacular.

I just love the snowman's hat, makes me think of Michael Jackson's hat with all those shiny embellishments!

How can you turn away from this snowman, such a cute little face!

Fabric:  Variety of fabric (Kit is available)
Pattern: A Graceful Winter by Denise Sheehan
Size: Approximately 49" x 51"

Hexagon Dish Towel

Posted on June 22, 2012 by Jenn Thurston | 0 comments

I made this cute little dish towel the other week and just wanted to share how it turned out.  It's no secret that I love Bonnie and Camille's fabric (what ever line it is, I can guarantee I have it).  I wanted to do something a little different with this fabric than just making a quilt, so I ran across some dish towels I had lying around for a while and thought I wouldn't mind doing some cheater applique with them.

I really like how it turned out, but with those colors how could you not??

Here's a close up of the cheater applique.  Traditional hexagons are all hand stitched - if you know one thing about me, I'm not a hand stitching type of girl.  So I used some heat and bond, and edge stitched.  It may not be traditional but I sure like how quick the project finished up!

Ready for use - although I think it maybe be too pretty to be used in our house!

If anyone is interested, there will be some kits posted soon.  Check back for an update of where they can be found.
