Caravan Tote

I was lucky enough to go to a sewing retreat last weekend called The Stash Bash (this was actually my third year going to this event).  We had the option of being in a swap, we filled out a short survey and our partner could go off of those details to make or buy us something we liked.  My partner said she liked Cotton and Steel and Reeces Cups, so that my friend is what she received!

I made her this Caravan Tote pattern is by Noodlehead using Cotton and Steel fabric.  The linen was a fabric I found locally at an Antique Shop and what a perfect find it was!

This Caravan Tote and I spent so much time together I began to think of it as family.  I had such a great time picking out fabric, piecing the patchwork and sewing it together, wondering and hoping my partner would enjoy it!

I purchased the zippers from ZipIt, she was also a sponsor at The Stash Bash.  She has a wonderful selection of zippers, great prices and fantastic customer service.

The pattern called for a ribbon for the top of the Caravan Tote, I did not prepare that much in advance to have anything coordinating.  So instead, I took the ribbon off the fat quarter bundle I purchased and sewed it on coordinating fabric to make my own ribbon/label.  I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out!

This is also my first time installing a magnet closure, it was a piece of cake!  Not sure why I was putting it off so long, I see more of these in my future!

This is a little pouch from the same pattern, it's considered a bonus with the pattern. Such a great size, very practical size as well as the convenient pocket on the outside!

This was a very quick pouch, and will probably become my go to pattern for zippy pouches!  I loved the lining, and continued using the same coral color for edge stitching as I did on my Caravan Tote.

I also had fun picking out a vibrant pink Moda Bella Solid for the inside, I think it coordinates quite well with the exterior fabric.  This pattern was so much fun once I figured out what pieces would be which prints.
