Glimmer Quilt

It's no shock that I am head over heels with BasicGrey's new line Fresh Cut.  It is so light and cheerful, the perfect color pallet for spring!

The pattern we decided on is called Glimmer by Jaybird Quilts.  This pattern utilizes the Super Sidekick Ruler; although you are not required to have this ruler to use the pattern.  The quilt goes together surprisingly quick!

I mean seriously, whats not to love about this fabric line!  Gorgeous colors as well as subtle prints, a very versatile line.

The quilting is a tighter swirl than what we typically used, I think it goes nicely with the quilt pattern.

The hardest part was deciding what colors and prints to use in each layer of the star.  I might do things a little differently the second time around but I have to say I'm quite happy with the effect and fabric placement.

For the backing we used our left over strips from the front and used a Moda Bella Solid for the majority of the backing.

Here are the quilt stats:
Pattern: Glimmer by Jaybird Quilts
Ruler: Super Sidekick Ruler
Size: "Baby Quilt" 44" x 44"
Fabric: Fresh Cut by Basic Grey

Schnibbles Parade featuring Bibelot

Posted on March 30, 2012 by Jenn Thurston | 2 comments

I have always wanted to participate in the Schnibbles parade but never could quite commit to completing the quilt in time.  This month their featuring the Bibelot pattern which really appeals to me because the blocks look like "T"s.  My excuse to keep this quilt is because it has my last name initial is all over it, unfortunately my mom can say the same thing - I hope she doesn't claim it as her own with the same logic!

I decided to use the beautiful Hello Luscious line by BasicGrey.  I had fun putting all these nice pinks and greens together, I think the fabric really features the pattern nicely.

I used a large paisley design for the quilting, it mimics some of the fabric designs.  The backing is my favorite print in the whole line, I just couldn't resist using it!

Sadly it's too late to participate in the Schnibbles parade for March (unless you're a super human quilter and can get a whole top pieced in one night...) but you can always join along next month, I'm sure it will be just as fabulous of a pattern!
